Highlights
Famotidine works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach produces. It is used to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines. Famotidine also treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions in which acid backs up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing heartburn (the stomach produces too much acid).
Managing Heartburn
Tips for heartburn include: use Famotidine Tablets 20 mg (or another heartburn medicine); do not lie flat or bend over after eating; do not eat before bedtime; raise the head of your bed; eat slowly and avoid big meals; quit smoking.
